CRERE, was the responsible for the restoration of the Arab Room of the Palácio da Bolsa in Oporto a space classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The work was undertook between 2009 and 2010 and took 12 months.
For the first time, 100 years after its inauguration in 1908, the Arab Room was subjected to an integrated intervention of restoration of ornamental polychrome and gilded plaster, mural painting, gilded wood and stained glass.
The conservation of the room reflected a deterioration associated with lack of space maintenance. Faced with a huge picture of structural weaknesses CRERE was the responsible in the implementation of procedures to allow the original physical integrity, properly supported in existing historical records.
In 2010 CRERE returned the splendor to the Arab Room.
